Commuter Benefits by Industry — Alice

Last updated: May 26, 2026.

Alice was built for hourly, frontline, tipped-wage, variable-hour, and multi-location workforces. A restaurant, hotel, cafe, clinic, and retail chain do not administer commuter benefits the same way — schedules, locations, paychecks, and eligible expenses change by workforce. Alice’s per-pay-period election model is designed to fit that variability.

Commuter benefits by industry

  • Restaurants and food service — tipped wages, multi-location groups, FOH/BOH variability. Payroll on Toast, Restaurant365, Paychex, ADP, and others.
  • Hotels and hospitality — front desk, housekeeping, F&B, multi-property groups, union and non-union mixed workforces. Payroll on UKG, ADP Workforce Now, Paycom, Paycor.
  • Healthcare and home health — CNAs, MAs, HHAs, per-diem and prn staff, multi-worksite scheduling, staffing agencies with multi-EIN structures.
  • Cafes and coffee shops — tipped baristas, lean HR, multi-location operators. Payroll on Toast, Square, Paychex, Homebase, 7shifts.

What’s the same across industries

Alice connects to your existing payroll system. Alice has connections to 30+ payroll providers, including ADP, UKG, Paylocity, Paycom, Paychex, Toast, and others. Alice sizes benefit activity around actual eligible commute spending and paycheck reality each pay period. Employees self-enroll on their phones in about five minutes and use Alice Card (a Visa commercial credit card) for eligible transit and parking.

Alice internal product data for hospitality customers showed benefit elections changed in 91% of pay periods over a one-year measurement period, without the employer manually resizing each election. (Alice internal data; ask Alice for current methodology.)

What’s different by industry

Schedules, eligible expenses, and payroll connections vary. A multi-location restaurant group connects through Toast and 7shifts; a multi-property hotel uses UKG and ADP Workforce Now; a clinical staffing firm needs multi-EIN handling. The industry pages above walk through each context.
